Easkey Accommodation

County Mayo in the West of Ireland

Approximately 26 miles from Sligo Town, on the R297 regional road, Easkey is an unspoilt coastal village, with enchanting views of the wild Atlantic coastline. The village name in Gaelic 'Iascaigh' means "abounding in fish," referring to the Easkey River that flows close by the village. The magnificent coastal scenery in Easkey is practically unrivalled elsewhere in Ireland and it is firmly established as one of Europe's premier surfing locations.

Easkey is a popular destination for tourists interested in water sports and there is a range of accommodation in the area to suit all budgets, including self-catering, bed and breakfast, hotels and camping facilities.

Easkey is one of Ireland's top angling destinations and visitors to the area can experience first class sea angling as well as coarse fishing. The village lies at the mouth of the River Easkey, a spate (fast flowing) river of approx 12 miles, renowned for its salmon and brown trout catches. Fishing from the pier at Easkey and along the coastline is also very popular. The main catches from here include pollock, coalfish, mackerel, wrasse, dogfish and congor-eel.
